A Little About Alaskan Expressions

Alaskan Expressions started in 2013 in North Pole, Alaska, with a group of friends in middle and high school selling the knit and crochet pieces we made ourselves. What began as a creative way to share the things we loved making has grown and changed quite a bit over the years.

Today, Alaskan Expressions is a local Fairbanks shop built around creativity, community, and finding something a little different.

You’ll find yarn and fiber arts supplies for your next project, handmade knit and crochet goods, Alaska-made products, gently used clothing, classes, events, and more. We also host special experiences and retreats that give makers an opportunity to learn, create, travel, and spend time together.

More Than a Shop

One of the things we love most about having a local storefront is being able to serve our community in different ways.

Sometimes that means helping someone find the right yarn for a project or teaching a new skill. Sometimes it means creating a place for people to gather through a class or event. And sometimes it’s as simple as giving good clothing another chance to be useful instead of sending it to the landfill.

Our gently used clothing program is one example. Donated clothing allows us to offer affordable options while keeping prices low. Items that have a little too much wear for us to sell—but still have useful life left—are made available for free.

Something Uniquely Alaskan

Alaskan Expressions has grown far beyond those first handmade pieces, but creating, connecting, and supporting our local community are still at the heart of what we do.

Whether you’re looking for yarn for your next project, something handmade or Alaska-made, an affordable new-to-you find, a class to join, or a one-of-a-kind experience, we hope you’ll find something here for you.

Come visit us in Fairbanks and see what’s new.
